May 25 was a chilly morning, I got up very early. The thermometer said it was 30 deg. I went outside and there were indeed ice crystals on the puddles in my drive way. I looked longingly at my car as I pulled my motorcycle out of the garage for the seventy mile ride to Letchworth state park. Being the cheep guy I am I did not want to pay today’s gas price to drive a 140 mile round trip for my car. It just made more since to take the 45 MPG motorcycle.
I got to Letchworth about six o’clock that Brisk morning. I could see that many of the balloons had already been launched. I was lucky when I got to the park gate they did not have a ranger there that early to collect the $6.00 park entrance fee. I followed the trail of balloons in the sky to get to the launch site. When I got their there were still about 20 Balloons in the process of launching. So I grabbed my camera hoping for a few good pics. What happened next really astounded me. As the Balloons took off when they got over the canyon they would let out their Hot air and descend right into the Canyon.
This must have been a really exciting ride. You can see more of these pictures on my website uwworld.
