Come Get Some: NYC Dept. of Health Gives away Condoms

The streets of New York are filled with love. Well, maybe not love, but at least safe sex. The sleek, ultra-mod, designed dispensers were erected, urm..are popping up...they just hit the streets of New York today.
The campaign is probably the coolest condom campaign in history. Mac-esque type posters and tv spots are getting the attention of New Yorkers.
2008: The renowned industrial designer Yves Béhar has given the NYC Condom a fresh new look. He has also designed an elegant dispenser that is debuting in 200 pilot locations around the city on February 14th. Look for it in bars, restaurants, community service agencies and our STD clinics—and get some!
Reminiscent of a condom shape warped into the surface of one's leather wallet, the NYC Condom's approachable shape and friendly brand helps create an air of openness and acceptance, thus removing the stigma of the condom as something to be ashamed off.

A great example of good design furthering the aim of a campaign: people see it-> they get it-> they grab one.

I've actually heard some criticisms about this campaign already - talking about how the slogan 'get some' could encourage teenagers to think about sex and therefore want it more than if they hadn't seen the posters for the free goods. However, my question is, is it possible for teenagers to think about sex more? There aren't enough hours in the day...

We're hard-wired to be horny as hell once we hit puberty; education should channel that urge in a constructive way by actually teaching us how our bodies work and explaining our safety options; abstinence is one approach, but evolution is too powerful a force to be swayed by "just say no".

Hah. As a tourist, I was quite surprised to receive these while walking through Central Park!
