National High-Five Day

... Yeah!

What? You didn't know that the third Thursday in April is National High-Five Day?

One celebrates NH5D by, well, high-fiving people. I love stuff like this, so I'll take some footage of my high-fives and post them here. I suggest you do so as well. Whooping and cheering is encouraged. It's sort of silly, sure, but also pretty neat-- NH5D encourages direct contact between strangers in a friendly way, but not as full on as, say, a national hugging day.

Sure, it began in the USA, but nothing's stopping you from celebrating in Canada or the UK or Argentina or India or Gibraltar (excercise caution, though, if high-fiving a macaque).

Is there an official website? Of course there is.

Update:

I went into the streets to solicit high-fives. People either blanked me or avoided me; one timid commuter actually crossed the street to avoid me! Am I that sketchy-looking? Well, the answer is clearly "yes"...

It makes me almost sad enough to type a colon followed by an open-parenthesis.

jordan, I like this story. It's good stuff.  This reminds me of Borat... he could be the spokesperson for NH5D.
