Stoltz boards Sci Fi's "Caprica"

I guess this is a good thing.  I can't seem to get into Battlestar Galactica but it is clearly a quality program.  Hopefully, this will be to.  Even if it's not, it got to be better than the "Attack of the Giant/Mutant (Insert Animal/Insect/Thing)" movies that SciFi greenlights with alarming frequency:

Eric Stoltz has signedon to star opposite Esai Morales in Sci Fi Channel's two-hour"Caprica" pilot, a prequel to "Battlestar Galactica."
Eric Stoltz is a strange cat.  He strikes me of one of those actors who was on the cusp of being major that just turned his back and went another way, into strange, b-movies, their ilk.  At this point in his career, this is almost a step up.  As for Esai Morales, in my mind, he basically time-travelled from "La Bamba" to this- I know he's done plenty of things since then but that's all I remember and I'm too lazy to go to IMDB.

Next on SciFi: "Early Check Out", about a library book shelf that goes mad and starts crushing loud-talkers.  "Cause of death?" "Books, sir.  Lots and lots of books."

A prequel? Nooo.  I'm already a Battlestar Galactica widow.

good stuff:

Critical Todd, I don't know how I ended up falling into the world of BSG, but I fell hard. I'm gearing up for Caprica as the final Battlestar season winds down...but I have to agree with you -- is it a good thing that Stoltz and Morales are on board?  It's probably good for them as actors, but it's anyone's guess how they'll translate as sci-fi stars. Regardless, I'll be watching.

I'm sure I'll give this a shot - I never got into BSG probably because I missed the first couple of seasons (at some point I'll rent the discs, I'm sure).  I do want to throw my support behind any sci-fi offerings on TV.
