Usain Bolt Completes Zurich in 9.83
The triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt continued his domination of sprinting on Friday with a comfortable 100-meter victory at the Golden League meet.
The 22-year-old Jamaican, who set world records in winning the 100 meters, 200 meters and 4x100-meter relay in Beijing, finished the race Friday in 9.83 seconds, 0.16 second clear of the double Olympic bronze medalist, Walter Dix of the United States.
After taking silver behind Bolt at the Olympics, Richard Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago had to settle for third place in Zurich, a further 0.10 second behind Dix.
At the start of the race the official reaction times showed Bolt to be the slowest starter of the nine runners, although his lengthy strides were more than enough to compensate.
"It was good, but my start was not too good," said Bolt. "I concentrated on winning, and as I'm starting to get a cold I was not able to think about any faster time."
