LAS VEGAS — Clear evidence that pole dancing has made its way out of smoke-filled strip clubs and into the heart of America's playland: "Pole-A-Palooza" 2007.The packed JET night club in the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on Tuesday hosted 25 bikini-clad contestants who showed that it takes not only beauty but incredible strength to be a winner.
Each contestant got the chance to use legs, arms and torsos to climb up, down and around a metal pole in carefully choreographed routines.

If I take Oprah as my cultural barometer, seems like a lot of women
these days view pole-dancing as a liberating, even feminist activity. I don't really get it, personally. But it is definitely interesting to observe how society's moral standards change over time. Probably has something to do with all the online porn available, no?
