What's Right and Wrong About Obama

Before discussing what's right and wrong about Obama, please first read this brief story below.

There Linda Jones sat for twenty years under the ministry of her close female friend and the pastor of her church, the Rev. Beth Collins.

Rev. Beth, as she liked to be called, helped Linda greatly in her faith and gave direction to her life, but Linda knew something about  Rev. Beth. Rev. Beth hated men. She just wouldn't forgive men for all the wrongs and inequalities they committed against women through the centuries. Occasionally, not all of the time thankfully, Rev. Beth would speak out against men from behind the pulpit. Linda just ignored those comments because she knew that Rev. Beth was speaking out of emotion and not reason. Linda herself didn't hate men, especially since she was raised by her grandfather who gave her everything. Linda was so grateful for all the positive things Rev. Beth did for her in her life and so she didn't need to feel that she had to leave her church.

Then Linda ran for President. Linda had political experience and some very good ideas and wanted to build on as much common ground as possible between different people. Linda also had good knowledge about the world and other cultures and how and why people think the way they do in other parts of the world. She thought she could be a good president. But, men across the country started ganging up against Linda when they found out that her female pastor hated men and said horrible things about men from behind the pulpit. The news spread fast that Linda must be a man-hater too. Linda tried to explain, but it didn't work.

Did Linda have a chance of becoming President?

I don't know about you, but Linda's story sounds pretty much like Sen. Barack Obama's situation except that in Obama's case the issue with his former black pastor, Jeremiah Wright, is race prejudice and not gender and in Obama's case he was raised by loving white grandparents.

Initially, I too had my suspicions about why Obama associated with his pastor, Rev. Wright, until I read Obama's speech on race. I am socially conservative (pro-life, etc.), but I have to admit, after reading that speech, that Obama is an honest man. I recommend that everyone read Obama's speech on race. It's available on the Internet.

Although I disagree with Obama on certain issues such as abortion, he, nevertheless, is honest and genuine. He believes corporations and wealthy should pay their fair share of taxes and he opposes the control that corporations have over government and policy decisions through their powerful lobbying. He does have some very good substantive ideas, especially in the economic sphere, in helping the poor and middle income families, and in dealing with the complexity of foreign affairs. People should read-up on the specifics behind his ideas. He's not simply a good speaker.

Obama is not anti-White or anti-American who has a hidden agenda against this country. Let's be clear about that!

I will not be voting for Obama precisely because of his stand on issues such as abortion, but I also do not want to see Obama falsely denigrated by the right by using issues such as Jeremiah Wright. Many who are pro-choice do not take that stand out of cruelty but because they do not want to see an unwanted child come into the world, especially if the child will be born with serious birth defects. This does not excuse abortion on demand in any way, but I am simply stating that the motive always is not always cruelty, although the motive for any abortion on demand is selfish and wrong.

The unborn's right to life will always outweigh the right of privacy. Killing another human being, whom God has given the right to life, should never be a matter of personal choice, in the womb or outside of the womb.
