I live here in San Diego about 15 miles from the Witch Fire. Fires are still burning and evacutions are still happening.

NEW: BOIL WATER ORDER FOR RAMONA
9:36 p.m. - Although Ramona is under mandatory evacuation orders, those residents remaining in the city are being advised to boil tap water or use bottled water for drinking and cooking until further notice. Tap water pressure should be restored around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

A RED FLAG WARNING is in effect for all of southwestern California through 3pm Wednesday. Hot, dry Santa Ana conditions with critical fire weather will persist through Wednesday. Winds will begin to slowly diminish Tuesday night through Wednesday but very dry conditions will continue. Slow cooling will begin Thursday.

  • ESCONDIDO - Evacuations are being ordered in Escondido from Via Rancho PKY North to Hamilton and west to Valley PKY. Evacuations are also issued for northeast Escondido in Mountain View north to Citrus, then up to Bear Valley PKY to Lake Wohlford.

  • THE LA JOLLA INDIAN RESERVATION - A Mandatory Evacuation order has been issued for the La Jolla Indian Reservation near Palomar Mountain. A structure there is on fire and has started a brush fire, burning approximately 150 acres so far. Several structures have burned in that area near SR 76. Harrah's Casino is the evacuation center for residents in that area.

  • WILDCAT CNYN & MUTH VALLEY SOUTH TO WILLOW RD - Reverse 911 calls were sent out at the request of Lakeside Fire at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday for all of Wildcat Canyon and Muth Valley south to Willow Road. Evacuations are mandatory and 3,780 calls were sent out. Evacuees are directed to Santana High School.

  • FALLBROOK - All of Fallbrook has been ordered to evacuate. At least 100 structures have burned in that area. The Sheriff's Department reported at 3:04 a.m. Tuesday that the Fallbrook fire is moving east toward De Luz Road.

     

    Evacuation Orders for Monday, October 22.

    • ENCINITAS - The Encinitas Fire Department has
      ordered the mandatory evacuation of the area east of Rancho Santa
      Fe Road and north of El Camino del Norte. Evacuees can go to the
      Encinitas Senior and Community Center at 1140 Oak Crest Drive.
    • FALLBROOK - A mandatory evacuation is under
      effect, and residents are being told to go to San Clemente State
      Park.
    • CHULA VISTA - Chula Vista police are using
      the reverse 911 system to notify residents in the Bellalago community
      in the eastern side of Chula Vista and the south eastern side
      of Spring Valley (bordering the northern side of Chula Vista)
      of MANDATORY EVACUATIONS. Chula Vista residents can call (619)

      for a recorded message. An evacuation center
      has been opened at the Chula
      Vista Community Youth Center
      (campus of Chula Vista High School,
      465 L Street). The Woods at Eastlake, areas of San Miguel Ranch

    • DEL MAR - Evacuations have been ordered for
      the following areas: South of Del Dios Highway, north of Sorrento
      Valley Road and west of Black Mountain Road to the ocean. Evacuees
      are being advised to go to centers at Carlsbad High School, Encinitas
      Senior and Community Center and Qualcomm Stadium.
    • CREST AND HARBISON CANYON - Mandatory evacuations
      are underway in Crest and Harbison Canyon.
    • SCRIPPS RANCH - Residents have been told to pack
      up and evacuate.
    • Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for Rancho Santa Fe,
      portions of Leucadia, as well as the Olivenhain Dam area.

    SCHOOL CLOSURE INFORMATION FOR WEEK OF OCTOBER 22



    • All San Diego Public Schools are closed for the remainder of the week
    • All three MiraCosta College campus locations (two campuses in Oceanside and one in Cardiff) are closed through the weekend. All credit and noncredit classes held off-campus through the weekend are cancelled. We expect to open for classes on Monday and will evaluate the situation on Saturday.     According to Mayor Jerry Sanders, 480 homes have been destroyed and 65 damaged by fire within the City of San Diego.

    TIJUANA VALLEY EQUESTRIAN ASSOC. HELPING TO PLACE HORSES
    The Tijuana Valley Equestrian Association is helping to place horses in private ranches in the Tijuana River Valley area. The association has placed 200 horses and has room for more. For information, evacuees with horses can contact John Gabaldon, the chairman of the Tijuana Valley Equestrian Association at (619) 920-1282, and he will provide directions to the location of the corrals.



    MEDICAL, HEALTH AND MENTAL HEALTH CARE WORKERS ON THEIR WAY TO QUALCOMM
    A team of medical, health and mental health care workers are on their way to Qualcomm Stadium Tuesday to provide services for fire evacuees, according to the governor's office. The California Medical Assistance Team will include 35 volunteers to evaluate people with medical needs who have been forced from their homes because of the raging wildfires.

    SDSU GAME AGAINST BYU POSTPONED
    The SDSU game against BYU scheduled for this Saturday at Qualcomm Stadium has been postponed until Dec. 1.

    San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis warned today that would-be looters looking to profit from the area's devastating wildfires will be vigorously prosecuted by her office.

    GARBAGE PICKUP SERVICES
    All garbage pickup services has been suspended Tuesday. All Tuesday routes are now set for collection on Saturday. Customers who would normally have their trash picked up Tuesday will now have it collected on Saturday. Collection services will return to a normal schedule starting Wednesday.



    ROHR PARK IN CHULA VISTA HAS ROOM FOR HORSES
    Rohr Park in Chula Vista has plenty of room for horses. It is a large community ring in Rohr Park, located at the intersection of 4600 block of Sweetwater Road, near Winnetka Dr. They can handle 50-60 horses and have plenty of water.     QUALCOMM DONATIONS
    City officials are reporting that NO FURTHER DONATIONS are needed at Qualcomm unless requested.



    MANDATORY EVACUATIONS FROM RAMONA TO LAKESIDE
    As of 3:26 p.m. A mandatory evacuation notice has been issued for the Hwy 67 Corridor from Ramona to Lakeside. 



    MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER FOR NORTH JAMUL
    A mandatory evacuation has been ordered for an area bordered by the Sweetwater River on the north, Lawson Creek on the East and Lyons Valley Road on the south including the community of North Jamul. Evacuees are advised to go to Qualcomm Stadium.



    SAN DIEGO COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES OPENS ADDITIONAL SHELTER
    As of 3:33 p.m. San Diego County Animal Services has opened a shelter for large animals near Gillespie Field, 1960 Joe Crosson Dr. in El Cajon. Directions: Take East on Hwy 67; exit at Bradley Avenue and turn left; right on Cuyamaca; and left on Weld Blvd. The animal evacuation shelter will be on the right hand side of the road.



    PRES. BUSH TO VISIT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
    President Bush is scheduled to tour the fire damage in Southern California Thursday, October 25. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke with Bush Tuesday afternoon and invited him to the area.



    SD COLLEGE CLOSURES
    UCSD, SDSU, California State University San Marcos and Southwestern College are closed for the rest of the week.



    PALOMAR MOUTAIN, VALLEY CENTER EVACUATIONS
    Reverse-911 is being used to issue evacuation orders to 924 Palomar Mountain and Valley Center households. Residents are advised to take shelter at Palomar Observatory, Mission Hills High School in San Marcos and Calvin Christian High School in Escondido.



    SPRING VALLEY ROAD CLOSURES
    Highway 94 is closed in the Rancho San Diego area, at Jamacha, from Steele Canyon to Forest Gate and at Old Canyon Road.



    JULIAN EVACUATIONS
    Evacuation of Pine Hills Road and Wynola Road in Julian. Reverse 9-1-1 is being used to issue evacuation orders to residents of Pine Hills Road and Wynola Road in Julian. Residents should evacuate to Borrego Springs High School.



    ESCONDIDO FIRE UPDATE
    The fire in southwest Escondido is burning in a westerly direction near structures south of Via Rancho Parkway. The flames have jumped Del Dios Highway. The fire is threatening Harmony Grove and a mandatory evacuation order was issued around 1:00 p.m.

    Another part of the fire is threatening the community of Del Dios. In the eastern area of Escondido, the fire perimeter is being held at Cloverdale Road. The fire there is now stable.  For more fire information in the Escondido area, go to www.escondido.org



    LA JOLLA RESERVATION MANDATORY EVACUATIONS
    A mandatory evacuation notice has been issued as of 1:20 p.m. for people in the La Jolla Reservation area. People should go to Borrego Springs. People SHOULD NOT go to the Palomar Mountain Evacuation center. This fire, which was spotted across Highway 76 and established on the south face of Palomar Mountain at the base of Palomar Mountain, is now being referred to as the "POOMACHO FIRE" by CalFire. It is currently 20,000+ acres.



    FAIRBANKS RANCH EVACUATIONS
    Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for about 1200 homes in Fairbanks Ranch.


    Residents can report to the Encinitas Senior Center at 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive or Carlsbad High School at 3557 Lancer Way.



    SOLANA BEACH EVACUATION ADVISEMENT
    Solana Beach officials are "strongly encouraging" residents to the northern edge of the city between Interstate 5 and Highway 101 to evacuate due to increased winds in the area. Residents can report to the Carlsbad Westfield Mall in the southwest corner of Interstate 5 and Highway 78 or to Qualcomm Stadium. Anyone who is having trouble evacuating can call the City of Solana Beach Emergency Operations Center at: 858-720-4403.



    EVACUATED PATIENTS
    Some patients evacuated from area hospitals have been moved to Sharp Hospitals. For information about patients relocated to Sharp Hospitals, please call: 1-800-827-4277.



    CALIFORNIA ISO: CONSERVE POWER
    California ISO has declared a transmission line emergency in all of Southern California. California ISO is asking everyone to conserve energy. Also, do not touch downed power lines, cables and phone lines. To report downed power lines, please call: 1-800-411-SDGE (7343).



    CAUTIONARY WATER ALERT FOR RAMONA
    A captain at the Ramona Fire Department says that the area could be without water by approximately 9 a.m. due to a power failure, which stopped a water pump. Extra water trucks are on the way to help fix the outage.



    NURSES, DOCTORS NEEDED AT QUALCOMM
    According to the Mayor's Office, licensed nurses and doctors are needed to help relieve current staff at Qualcomm Stadium. Anyone who wants to help, can report to Gate A. Shift length is estimated to be between eight to 10 hours. Medical volunteers are requested to register through Volunteer San Diego. Please do not show up to any site without registering first. Volunteers should log on to www.volunteersandiego.org and register if they wish to assist in providing medical services to victims. Once on the site, they will be able to register the skills they can provide and a coordinator will assist them in getting certified and assigned to a location.



    SANDERS: STAY HOME AND OFF FREEWAYS
    Mayor Jerry Sanders says residents should stay home Tuesday, if at all possible. He also advises the public to stay off the freeways, and off their cell phones to keep both open for emergency workers and phone calls.



    ROAD CLOSURES
    Hwy 76 east and west from East Vista Way is shut down. Hwy 78 is closed from Hwy 79 in Santa Ysabel to Haverford in Ramona. Hwy 79 northbound and southbound from Hwy 76 is shut down.



    POWER OUT FOR 25,000 CUSTOMERS
    According to SDG&E, about 25,000 customers are without power. It is not known at this time when power will be restored. There are about 58 fire-related outages around the county. Around 3:00 a.m., a significant number of transmission lines went out of service around the Miguel Mountain area in Rancho Santa Fe.



    MANDATORY EVACUATION - THE LA JOLLA INDIAN RESERVATION
    A Mandatory Evacuation order has been issued for the La Jolla Indian Reservation near Palomar Mountain. A structure there is on fire and has started a brush fire, burning approximately 150 acres so far. Several structures have burned in that area near SR 76. Harrah's Casino is the evacuation center for residents in that area.



    MILITARY HOTLINE FOR FIRE INFORMATION
    Marine Corps Air Station Miramar has established a hotline for their Marines, sailors and their families to get information pertaining to closures and other important fire-related information, officials said. The hotline can be reached at (858) 577-9090.



    MANDATORY EVACUATIONS FOR CREST AND HARBISON CANYON: Mandatory evacuations are underway in Crest and Harbison Canyon.



    FOOD AND SUPPLIES NEEDED IN DEL MAR: The evacuation center in Del Mar is in need of food and supplies, particularly pillows, blankets, sleeping bags.



    SD COUNTY LIBRARY CLOSURES: All locations of the San Diego County Library system will be closed on Tuesday, October 23 because of the wildfires covering considerable portions of the county.



    NAVY UPDATE: There is additional room at Naval Base San Diego for active duty military personnel, and their families. Sailors and their families should report to the Admiral Prout field house at Naval Base San Diego for evacuation housing. Click here for more information>>

    If you have animals or livestock that you cannot evacuate yourself or that need to be rescued, call (619) 236-4250 and press "1" for emergency services.


    The Tijuana Valley Equestrian Association is helping to place horses in private ranches in the Tijuana River Valley area. The association has placed 200 horses and has room for more. For information, evacuees with horses can contact John Gabaldon, the chairman of the Tijuana Valley Equestrian Association at (619) 920-1282, and he will provide directions to the location of the corrals.


    Rohr Park in Chula Vista has plenty of room for horses. It is a large community ring in Rohr Park, located at the intersection of 4600 block of Sweetwater Road, near Winnetka Dr. They can handle 50-60 horses and have plenty of water. Evacuees with horses can call Dave Braithwaite. 619-203-1640.

    San Diego County Animal Services has opened a shelter for large animals Located near Gillespie Field, 1960 Joe Crosson Dr. in El Cajon. Directions: Take East on Hwy 67; exit at Bradley Avenue and turn left; right on Cuyamaca; and left on Weld Blvd. The animal evacuation shelter will be on the right hand side of the road.
