Freak weather surprises Manila
Ok...maybe it's just me and my officemates.
Early today, May 16, the weather had manifested in a total reversal of gray conditions in the last couple of days. The sun was up, but the semi-cloudy skies gave the land cover from the summer heat.
And then this. Right after lunch, the sky turned dark, ominously. Just this morning, there was a two-pieced lady sun-bathing by the pool at the condo next to our building. Now, a staff is struggling to keep the benches from the pool area from being blown away by the strong winds.
The intensity is evidently strong as we can hear the roar of the wind from our 17th floor office. Normally, all external noise are filtered by the structure of this building.
Ok...I know, we're a bunch of voyeurs...but that's not the news here.
Rain of this strength is normal in this nation. But as stated earlier, it came us a surprise just when everyone's singing the lyrics, "I can see clearly now, the rain is gone...it's gonna bright...la la la."
Will wait for mainstream news on this tonight.
Tropical storm "Cosme" drifted slightly northwards on its way to northern Luzon, as tropical storm "Dindo" moved father away from the northeastern seaboard late Friday morning, the state weather bureau said.
Public storm signal number 1 (30 to 60 kilometers per hour winds) was raised in the provinces of Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga,
Pangasinan, and in Lubang Island, the Philippine Atmospheric
Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its noon bulletin.
The two storms will enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing rains to
Luzon and the Western Visayas, PAGASA said, as it warned those in low-lying areas against landslides, and those in coastal areas against big waves.
