Frosty Friday Turns Into Snowy Saturday

Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, Canada

I live on the east coast of Vancouver Island, a normally mild weather spot.  In fact, we brag about our February 1st flower count here.  We woke up to a rude surprise today -- no electricity and about 30 centimeters of snow!  On April 19th for goodness sake.

Our electricity has just been restored after nine hours without.  It would not be such a big deal except the generator has been put away for the summer.  We live in an area where we have our own wells which do not work without electricity -- no water.  Our new, whizbang septic systems also require electricity to run properly so we have to be careful there too.  Heat is no problem, it's almost back to shirtsleeve weather again.

The accompanying photos show my local area this morning arount 8 am.  The snow is rapidly melting and here's hoping that we don't see anymore here until late November.

Barbara McPherson, I like this story. It's good stuff. You got it worse than we did in Vancouver then! Here it is sunny at the moment, but it rained, hailed and snowed yesterday!
