NP Rank:
Killer stingrays hit Brit beaches
A ray that kills its prey with a giant electric shock has been found off the coast of Britain.
The marbled stingray, which generates a power surge so hard it is like being plugged into the mains, normally sticks to the warmer Med.
It is a relative of the ocean monster that killed Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin by spearing him through the heart.
Now experts fear Britain’s coastline will be invaded by packs of hunting electric rays this summer because of global warming.
Just one touch from the predator, when hauled onto a fishing boat, could knock a man off his feet and kill.
The marbled stingray, which can grow up to 5ft long, was discovered by fishermen off the coast of Shoreham, West Sussex.
