Unilever's 'Monkey Business' - Greenpeace swings into action
Greenpeace has launched a campaign today against the makers of Dove soap, who buy palm oil from companies wrecking Indonesia's forests.
They launched this morning with some direct actions at the offices and factories of Dove's parent company, Unilever, in the UK, the Netherlands and Italy.
Unilever is the single biggest user of palm oil in the world, so they've got to do something to clean up the industry.
Greenpeace launched a spoof video of the famouse Dove's ad "Onslaught" as well

effective, I like this story. It's good stuff. A group of Greenpeace protesters actually dressed up as Apes and hit Unilever sites in London and Mereyside today.
I wonder if the Greenpeace protesters know Unilever setup and chair the RSPO?

DaveP - we do indeed know about Unilever's involvement with the RSPO. That's part of the problem, because the standards set by the RSPO just aren't beefy enough to prevent the kind of forest destruction we're seeing. Companies who are members of the RSPO can still tear down forests to plant oil palm, and there's no comeback. More details about palm oil and the RSPO on our website. It was a great campaign by Greenpeace. Very effective and they used humour to get across a serious message. The orangutans were rolling around and waving at children and tourists so there was no way Unilever could have intervened without coming across as very heavy-handed. Very clever.
