Last week a guy was “cooking drugs” in his room on the top floor of the Glory Rooms near the Gassy Jack statue at Carroll and Powell St. on the Downtown Eastside. But his home cooking accidentally triggered the sprinkler in his room.
Water was streaming down the stairs of the Glory. An aboriginal man who lives in the room below says he came home in the late evening to find water streaming down his walls. His brand new big screen tv was wet. So wet, in fact, that he's still scared to turn it on.
The flood damaged the store below, Glory Foods, too.

jr, I like this story. It's good stuff.
I can already hear the calls for some taxpeyer-funded Safe Cooking Site!

Thanks for the feeback, eastvanry,
There is a sad update to this story. The aboriginal man who came home to find his laptop and desk top computers and his brand new big screen tv drenched, had been sober for years. But after this flood, he went drinking.

That is too bad. I lived in Gastown for 5 years and I know how difficult it must have been to stay sober in that neighbourhood, given all the influences.
