The management of cancer without chemotherapy and radiation?
The management of blocked cardiac vessels or rhythm disorders without surgery? Dream
come true? No - this is for real. Two Mumbai-based ayurved physicians, Dr
Prashant Sawant, M.D. (Ayurved) and his associate Dr Reshma Jagtap M.D.
(Ayurved), are successfully treating these dreaded diseases. They have turned
the impossible to the possible.
CASE STUDY A:
Mr. Sunil (name changed), a 41-year old goldsmith, underwent a
surgical removal of one of his kidneys that was cancerous. He had been diagnosed
with stage IV renal cell cancer, the most lethal of urologic malignancies. The
cancer had spread to the bones too (known as metastasis). As advised, he
underwent chemotherapy and a course of immune modulators for three years. But
the cancer continued to advance in the bones. Mr Sunil met with one of Dr
Sawant’s former patients who had been treated successfully by him. He approached
Dr Sawant.
According to the Cancer National Cancer Institute, USA : ‘The
prognosis for any treated, renal cell cancer patient with progressing,
recurring, or relapsing disease is poor, regardless of cell type or stage.
Almost all patients with stage IV renal cell cancer is incurable’.
Two months after starting his treatment at Ayurlife, Mr
Sunil’s bone scan report showed regression in the bone cancer. After seven
months, the bone metastasis had completely disappeared. Today, Mr Sunil leads a
healthier life, without any medication and with the confidence of being able to
fight back.
CASE STUDY B:
Mr. Rafiq (name changed), a 43-year-old mechanic, visited Dr
Sawant, complaining of shortness of breath, chest pain on the left-side,
occasional palpitations - classic symptoms of a coronary artery disease in
November 2005. The angiography report, done earlier, revealed blocks in the
major three vessels (90-95 % in two, and about 50 % in one). He was asked to
undergo an immediate open-heart surgery. Mr Rafiq entrusted himself to Dr
Sawant. Today, Mr Rafiq leads a comfortable, active life, without any symptoms
– purely on Ayurvedic medications and treatment.
This is just the tip of a medical ice-berg. Dr Sawant has
also effectively managed chronic disorders like asthma, migraine and psoriasis,
hitherto known to be ‘no-cure’ ailments. The novelty of his approach rests in
his claim to ‘manage’ a particular disease, focusing on a result-based curative
method. “The use of Panchakaram, an age-old ayurvedic de-toxification method,
and of immune modulation with the help of ayurvedic herbo-mineral medicines is
the key,” says the unassuming, publicity-shy doctor, at his clinic which is
aptly named Ayurlife Positive Health
Centre and Research Institute.
The second reason for these amazing recoveries is simple: Dr
Sawant has been truly ‘religious’ about applying his interpretations of ‘pure’
Ayurved principles. “There are ancient texts on Ayurved. Getting it right is
the key, and this can happen only with endless hours of dedicated research, trying
to grasp the true meaning of the methodologies and then diligently adhering to
these for treatments,” he says.
Today, Ayurved has taken quite a media-bashing, with patients
claiming to have developed lead poisoning. “Thanks to the unscrupulous methods
adopted by a handful, it is saddening to see the negative build-up in the
press. Any medicine that is not prepared scientifically and then not used
judiciously, is bound to fail. It is, in fact, an irony because by following Ayurved,
you follow toxin-free, healthy lifestyle,” he comments ruefully.
Ayurlife has been in existence for the last five years. Despite
a commendable record of successful treatments, Dr Sawant believes it is still
an uphill task. “It is not easy to change the mindset of people. In this day
and age, a simple and, fairly inexpensive, health solution is not so appealing.
I firmly believe that Ayurved can manage diseases that are life-threatening and
incurable, like cancer and AIDS, at an affordable cost. With more than third of a population that is
below the poverty-line, you can well imagine the stupendous benefits,” says Dr
Sawant.
THE SALIENT FEATURES OF
AYURLIFE:
-
'Pain
management' at Ayurlife denotes dealing with pain from ailments like severe
arthritis, migraine, spondylitis, backaches, etc, without using the
commonly-prescribed pain-killers. Panchakarma treatments like snehana, swedana,
shirodhaera, raktamokshana, virechana and basti, have been used successfully.
- Various
ayurved-camps on cancer and heart disease are being carried out to reach
out to the masses. This comparatively low cost treatment option is being well
appreciated by the patients. - Crash
courses on ayurved are being conducted for visiting foreigners with positive
feedback. For example, Miss. Polona Krsmanc from Slovenia says learning was never so nice for me” . Miss.
Diana Kovacs from Hungary
says “ First of all I am thankful to God… many times I felt hopeless to find a
good institute here in India.
I wanted a place, where people want to do something special, to make a better
future for all of us , where people don’t regret time and power to Give, Give
and Give. Its I know Dr. Sawant, he is this type of person. Sure felt, that he
wants to do something really great…” - Coaching
classes for the first time in Mumbai, for final year students of Ayurveda are
also being conducted.
