UK Cops: Reclassify Pot as More Dangerous
Senior police are calling for cannabis to become a class B drug again after it was reported that a government advisory body will say it should remain class C.
The Superintendents' Association said downgrading the drug in 2004 had sent out the wrong message by implying cannabis was harmless and legal.
The Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo) has also said this.
If it is reclassified, people caught carrying the drug would face up to five years in prison, rather than two.
In my opinion, rather than focusing on what "message" is sent to kids, the British government should instead consider the extra strain that will be put on their prison system, as saying that cannabis use is widespread is a major understatement.

I agree. I don't think that throwing more people in jail for what is untimately an unchanged offense is a good idea: statistically, more imprisonment means more recidivism, and, were it up to me, I'd not risk that.
