NP Rank:
It's a Web, Web, Web 2.0 world - 31 of the World's Hottest Startups (Excluding the U.S.)
Not all of the startup action happens in
Silicon Valley (or NYC and Vancouver, ahem)... Business 2.0 Magazine picks the "top" websites outside
the U.S. that are changing the world. I say, "top" because if you read what they write about some of these companies you really have to wonder what the hell they were thinking including them on such a list...
Trivop, an online video site "claims 30,000 unique views per month..." sweet jesus, my personal site gets more views... and Myubo, "the website had just over 3,000 uploaded videos available in a dozen different categories. But we think this startup has potential because it doesn't want to be a YouTube competitor." are you kidding me?
There are some great companies on the list tho, check out Joost and Rebtel (videos on your right). Rebtel lets you make super cheap (even free) international calls mobile to mobile - sorta like skype for your cell. Speaking of Skype, Joost was created by Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis (founders of Skype and Kazaa). The service is invite only atm (if you have one - invite me!). Congrats to OHMyNews for making the list too!
It seems that the top companies fit into only a few categories: online video companies like Joost and Myubo, "Mobile 2.0", "Web Applications" (what, no Drupal?), Social Media sites and Social Networks...

meyers, thanks for this. Some of those guys are in wishful thinking territory for sure...
I was going to credit you for the great headline, but I guess it was CNN's doing. Awesome coverage nonetheless.

There is the only video sharing portal which supports also uploadi & viewing from/on mobile phones and virtually all mobile data networks (gprs, edge, cdma, umts...) - MYUBO. I tried, it works perfectly - http://myubo.mobi, i think it is far ahead of YouTube.
