I started bringing my laptop to class this semester and got a really mixed reaction. My anthropology lecturer who is normally quite a decent guy started making me feel quite uncomfortable by pointing me out as an example of conspicuous consumption or to illustrate demand sharing. I was able to email notes I had taken to friends who had been ill and missed class and my notes were legible afterwards so there was no putting me off.
