So all the rumors are true and its about time. Anyone who has had their heart broken by the Cubs is gonna jump on this bandwagon big time. Mark Cuban would be a great owner for the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field would be a great winner.

Start deluging the Tribune Co. with e-mails, letters, phone calls and faxes begging it to sell the Cubs to Mark Cuban.

If you love the Cubs, you want Cuban as an owner.

The Mavericks' owner confirmed Thursday night that he has applied to Major League Baseball for a possible purchase of the legendary franchise.

But Cuban declined to elaborate on what comes next or how his pursuit of the Cubs might affect his ownership and involvement with the Mavericks. Cuban has successfully balanced the Mavericks and numerous other diverse businesses, including HDNet.

"I submitted the application and have no comment on the rest," Cuban wrote in an e-mail response to several questions.

I am all for it. The Cubs have been playing great lately, but always seem to have long stretches where the effort is less-than-par. This hasn't been the case with the Mavericks - those guys play hard, as a team, game in and game out. I'm sure the Tribune will be seeking top-dollar, and if anyone can justify that, it is Mark Cuban.
