Both McCann parents now named as suspects (in their daughter's disappearance)

UPDATE:Girl's Parents to Be Named Suspects

Madeline McCann's father has now been named a suspect in Madeline's disappearance.

I'm getting more and more worried about their involvement in this.

Portuguese police have named both parents of Madeleine McCann as formal suspects in her disappearance.

Gerry McCann was officially given "arguido" status about 12 hours after his wife Kate. They had been questioned separately for more than 24 hours.

More NP stories on this: one and two, and three. I shall highlight more as I see it.

You're welcome, Vinny. I'm finding it both disturbing and fascinating. I have to keep reminding myself that there's an innocent little girl in the middle of it all.

Yeah I can't believe parents if they are of course guilty do such a thing. Something that you should cherish the most is treated like that. We humans are horrible creatures....

It's frightening that it can happen. But it does, alas.

And they are suspects no more and on their way back to England

From my understanding, Barry, they're still suspects but the police have not placed any restictions (bail conditions etc.) on their travel home.

Please do correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Generaldecay, perhaps you are correct, I reread the story and it certainly seems ambiguous.  If you read this excerpt it states the following word "Were"  indicating past tense, in other words they no longer "Are" suspects.  I guess until we hear otherwise perhaps they are and this is a typo on the new stories part

PRAIA DA LUZ, Portugal (AP) - The parents of a four-year-old British
girl, who were declared suspects in her disappearance in Portugal more
than four months ago, are planning to return home Sunday

They are still suspects, according to BBC24.

The 'were' referred to the declaring of their suspect status rather than whether they are still considered suspects or not, I think.

I have posted their official McCann blog site http://www.findmadeleine.com/  this site is maintained exclusively by Gerry McCann giving Now Public Readers insight in what the family is going through.  Family and Friends feel they are being set up by police in their hopelessness in trying to find the abductor.

I think this is a definite possibility, Barry. Thank you for posting it.
