You just knew this was going to happen...

LOS ANGELES (AdAge.com) -- Michael Moore's new documentary "Sicko" has been pirated and is now widely available for download on the web on sites like BitTorrent, as well as peer to peer content sites like www.thepiratebay.org and blogspot.

Now I would consider downloading the movie Sicko because I want to learn what is in the movie. Watching it alone or even with a couple of friends at home is one kind of experience but I would then want to pay to see it at the movie theater because of the crowd experience -- like watching a movie in high school -- wisecrackers, the laughs or applause. There would be some affirmation in seeing it in public. Perhaps this is some trait of people of a certain age e.g. boomers and our life experience of always being around in big groups. I am not sure that the movie being "released" early on the Internet will hurt its box office that much.

If folks wanted to see movies only one time, then wouldn't there be no market for used DVDs?
