In 1941, MI6 decided to help the Czech resistance to assassinate Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich.

On December 29, 1941, Czech resistance fighters Jan Kubis and Joseph Gabcik were parachuted into Czechoslovakia.

On May 27, 1942, Heydrich's Mercedes car, driven by SS-Oberscharfuhrer Klein, had to slow down to take a sharp bend in Prague, where the Czech resistance fighters were waiting.

An anti-tank grenade was thrown at Heydrich's car. This exploded and severely wounded Heydrich.

On June 4, 1942, Heydrich died.
