BRIAN JUNGEN
January 28 to April 30, 2006

In September, Brian Jungen will open in New York at the New Museum
of Contemporary Art. This is an exceptional opportunity to showcase
a remarkable Canadian artist on the world stage. Interested in the
physicality of objects, especially consumer commodities, Vancouver
based artist Brian Jungen transforms common, prefabricated materials
into highly symbolic sculptures and installations. This touring
exhibition brings together Jungen's early drawings, his acclaimed
works made from reconstructed Nike runners and cut-up patio chairs,
as well as new works made specifically for this exhibition. Accompanied
by a full-colour catalogue, it marks the first opportunity to consider
the full scope of Jungen's remarkable oeuvre. The exhibition arrives
at the Vancouver Art Gallery on January 28, 2006. Brian Jungen is
curated by Daina Augaitis, Chief Curator/Associate Director at the
Vancouver Art Gallery.
The exhibition is generously supported by the Audain Foundation
and The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts
