This is partially a followup to my previous flickr story, which was titled "Even Machievelli Would Blush..." to continue offering updates on the dave sewell portion... but this is moreso a story about where things are at with the WHOLE story about my personal experience with flickr as a business entity (formerly an Internet Community).

First:

Something potentially GOOD:

In comments on my blog, and on his photo posting, dave sewell followed up with this:

"As per Jaces' rational and perfectly acceptable request regarding this...

UPDATE 2 :- I wish to make it known that I am fully aware that this account was not created by Jace / Dysamoria and that wording implying as much is purely coincidental and not intentional. 6:54 AM, October 21, 2007"

Also, i've gone out on a limb here and have chosen to unblock dave on flickr. Let's see how this all goes from here on. i still prefer to give people a chance to bridge gaps and i'm going to try to do my part.

Second:

i requested a cease-fire in the comments area on my blog to give some benefit of doubt that all parties involved can adjust to a new way of interacting.

Third: the real enemies:

Flickr, under ownership of Yahoo!, Inc... Both businesses continue to ignore the 1.75 months worth of communication i have sent to them about their handling of my accounts and the events that lead up to the deletion. My conflict with an individual member of flickr has been an element of this, but the real problem has been the "authorities," as usual. flickr staff are not much better than the officers who assaulted the student (in another posting on my blog, soon to be shared here on NowPublic), in regards to rights. Unlike that situation of public assault and the violation of rights, flickr has legalese to flaunt and with which to end discussion before it begins. This is not humane, reasonable, rational or acceptable in a social context. It is anti-social, and i hold Yahoo responsible for Flickr, who i hold responsible for the WHOLE EVENT. They did not do their jobs appropriately and now that flickr is ignoring me, and Yahoo continues to tell me to contact flickr, they are compounding the problem even more. They are, as this post's title suggests, the REAL enemies.

When an organization can simply choose to ignore you, they might as well not even have "contact methods."

Speaking as "the everyman with customer service conflicts..." Who do i escalate this to when the people who's job it is to listen, just plain wont listen? Who are the ones who NEED to respond because it is annoying and inconvenient for them to NOT do so?

The problem worsens when customer service IS technical support and IS the ownership and authority, as is the case with flickr. Yahoo gets the money but does nothing to manage their "owned company." As described on flickr's pages, flickr is "A Yahoo! Company."

Last Remarks (for tonight):

i will conclude this story with words from a friend of mine on flickr:

"as far as advise.. ::

.. i go back to the money thing ..

Physical $$ dollars.. if transfered digitally or not.. Money actual money was put into Yahoo's pockets for a product for a PRO ACCOUNT .. it was a gift to you.. and Yahoo has taken it away. [first a gift, secondly renewed by me -jace]

While yeh .. it's kinda like.."OK great here we go ,people f7ckin' with Dys again." .. Dramas aside..

YOU HAVE HAD SOMETHING TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU .. THAT WAS PAID FOR.

Reitteration (sp) i know..

but yeh i think it's good you stick to your guns until this is resolved and the account has been restored .. how high a level on the FlickR staff you've been conversing with i am not sure. [nor am i -jace] But summin's gotta give. What was done to you is not right.

It also makes me nervous.. cuz .. it shows me.. none of us are safe if this keeps happening."

i reiterate his final remark:

"It also makes me nervous.. cuz .. it shows me.. none of us are safe if this keeps happening."

UPDATE: attempted some formatting cleanup... which we all know is pointless... Please, NowPublic, fix this! And... i know, i know, you can stop telling me "You cannot contact peter.reardon"
