Dems try to Hush Rush

It
is known that the democrats would want nothing more then to reinstate
the Fairness Doctrine so as to quite conservative opinion after the
failure of the leftist Air America. It’s probably not that far off to
say that the left wants to try and destroy Rush and that this current
barrage of slander (more on that later) is also aimed at providing
cover to liberals who supported the General Betray Us ad from
moveon.org. But none of this really matters without a little history.

You all know some of the controversy but here’s Rush’s take:

This is a story of who the left props up as heroes. They
have their celebrities and one of them was Army Ranger Jesse MacBeth.
Now, he was a “corporal.” I say in quotes. Twenty-three years old. What
made Jesse MacBeth a hero to the anti-war crowd wasn’t his Purple
Heart; it wasn’t his being affiliated with post-traumatic stress
disorder from tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. No. What made Jesse
MacBeth, Army Ranger, a hero to the left was his courage, in their
view, off the battlefield, without regard to consequences. He told the
world the abuses he had witnessed in Iraq, American soldiers killing
unarmed civilians, hundreds of men, women, even children. In one
gruesome account, translated into Arabic and spread widely across the
Internet, Army Ranger Jesse MacBeth describes the horrors this way: “We
would burn their bodies. We would hang their bodies from the rafters in
the mosque.”

Now, recently, Jesse MacBeth, poster boy for the anti-war left, had
his day in court. And you know what? He was sentenced to five months in
jail and three years probation for falsifying a Department of Veterans
Affairs claim and his Army discharge record. He was in the Army. Jesse
MacBeth was in the Army, folks, briefly. Forty-four days before he
washed out of boot camp. Jesse MacBeth isn’t an Army Ranger, never was.
He isn’t a corporal, never was. He never won the Purple Heart, and he
was never in combat to witness the horrors he claimed to have seen.

So, was it just about one soldier? I think it was because the day
before the supposed slander occurred Rush did a morning update (which
can be viewed if you’re a subscriber) in which he called out Jesse
MacBeth for being a phony soldier. The basic synopsis of it is above.
So, here’s the full transcript of the conversation that Rush had with
the caller, who just happens to be a soldier (and he didn’t have a
problem with what Rush said):

CALLER: I have a retort to Mike in Chicago, because I am
serving in the American military, in the Army. I’ve been serving for 14
years, very proudly.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: I’m one of the few that joined the Army to serve my country,
I’m proud to say, not for the money or anything like that. What I would
like to retort to is that, what these people don’t understand, is if we
pull out of Iraq right now, which is not possible because of all the
stuff that’s over there, it would take us at least a year to pull
everything back out of Iraq, then Iraq itself would collapse and we’d
have to go right back over there within a year or so.

RUSH: There’s a lot more than that that they don’t understand. The
next guy that calls here I’m going to ask them, “What is the imperative
of pulling out? What’s in it for the United States to pull out?” I
don’t think they have an answer for that other than, “When’s he going
to bring the troops home? Keep the troops safe,” whatever.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: It’s not possible intellectually to follow these people.

CALLER: No, it’s not. And what’s really funny is they never talk to
real soldiers. They pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue
and spout to the media.

RUSH: The phony soldiers.

CALLER: Phony soldiers. If you talk to any real soldier and they’re
proud to serve, they want to be over in Iraq, they understand their
sacrifice and they’re willing to sacrifice for the country.

RUSH: They joined to be in Iraq.

CALLER: A lot of people.

RUSH: You know where you’re going these days, the last four years,
if you sign up. The odds are you’re going there or Afghanistan, or
somewhere.

CALLER: Exactly, sir. My other comment, my original comment, was a
retort to Jill about the fact we didn’t find any weapons of mass
destruction. Actually, we have found weapons of mass destruction in
chemical agents that terrorists have been using against us for a while
now. I’ve done two tours in Iraq, I just got back in June, and there
are many instances of insurgents not knowing what they’re using in
their IEDs. They’re using mustard artillery rounds, VX artillery rounds
in their IEDs. Because they didn’t know what they were using, they
didn’t do it right, and so it didn’t really hurt anybody. But those
munitions are over there. It’s a huge desert. If they bury it
somewhere, we’re never going to find it.

RUSH: Well, that’s a moot point for me right now.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: The weapons of mass destruction. We gotta get beyond that. We’re
there. We all know they were there, and Mahmoud even admitted it in one
of his speeches here talking about Saddam using the poison mustard gas
or whatever it is on his own people. But that’s moot. What’s more
important is all this is taking place now in the midst of the surge
working, and all of these anti-war Democrats are getting even more
hell-bent on pulling out of there, which means that success on the part
of you and your colleagues over there is a great threat to them. It’s
frustrating and maddening, and why they must be kept in the minority. I
want to thank you, Mike, for calling. I appreciate it very much.

Here is a Morning Update that we did recently, talking about fake
soldiers. This is a story of who the left props up as heroes. They have

So, a soldier is talking with Rush and the soldier is the one who
brings up the issue. Maybe the democrats need to redirect their vitriol
against the soldier because he is at least partially responsible for
the conversation, that is unless they believe soldiers are stupid.

Or, if you think like Jack Murtha, murderers. Here’s the transcript from John Gibson’s show on FNC culled from News Busters:

Senator Harry Reid: “That this war is lost, and that the surge is not accomplishing anything.”

John Kerry: “If you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your
homework and you make an effort to be smart you can do well. If you
don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

Congressman John Murtha: “Our troops overreacted because of the
pressure on them and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood.”

Senator Dick Durbin: “If I read this to you and didn’t tell you it
was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in
their control, you would most certainly believe this must have happened
by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags or some mad regime, Pol Pot or others
that had no concern for human beings.”

These statements were truly despicable and some of them were made by
ex-soldiers. Maybe they just got caught up in the moment and said
something stupid but I doubt it. When Jack Murtha, ex-Marine, was asked
about his condemnation of fellow Marines before a trial, which found at least some innocent, with only two soldiers left on trial, he had this to say in a video taken by Hot Air.

Which was worse, Rush condemning a person who has been convicted for falsely claiming to be a Ranger (there’s many who claim to be soldiers and aren’t or haven’t done all they claim)
and accusing soldiers of heinous acts he did not see or Jack Murtha for
not condemning Marines without the decency of a fair trial?

But lets face it, this has nothing to do with support of the troops
because if it did have anything to do with that Rush Limbaugh, whether
you love him or not, definitely supports the troops. Rush has won a Marine Corps - Law Enforcement award, he was given a flag that was flown during Operation Iraqi freedom, he has an adopt-a-soldier program that he runs, he went to Afghanistan to visit with the troops,
and here’s what one of the soldiers, a C-130 pilot, he met in
Afghanistan had to say about Rush in an email that was read on his
program today:

Lastly, I mentioned how we had a call, in fact, talking
about some things he’d remembered me saying about my visit to
Afghanistan back in 2005. I had, before his call, just received an
e-mail from Jeffrey Mull. It said, “Dear Rush, with regard to the real
attacks from phony critics and everything else that is being said about
phony soldiers, and your support for the troops, I have never been more
honored to fly anyone in a C-130 as I was when we had the privilege of
flying with you during your trip to Afghanistan in 2005. Your
commitment and support of the troops is without reproach. Thanks again
for your support for the troops and service to this country.”

So I read the note, told a little story from my memory about flying
around with Jeffrey on the C-130. He’s with the Texas Air National
Guard and wrote him back. “Jeffrey, I can’t tell you how much I
appreciate this. Where do you live now and how are you?” I got a note
back instantly, right before the previous hour ended, “I’m great. I’m
never better. I live in Granbury, Texas, which is south of Fort Worth.
My day job is at Lockheed Martin aeronautics. I’m working on the F-35
JSF program. I’m still a C-130 pilot in the Texas Air National Guard. I
will be returning with my unit to Afghanistan in December. I play a lot
of golf. I try to spend as much time with my wife and two daughters,
Reagan four, and Ryan one. Jeff.” He’s going back. My memory is this is
going to be his third tour.

But these are the people that I’ve met, and these are the people
that know the truth — and, by the way, the Rush 24/7 e-mail box and the
general e-mail box is being flooded with e-mail from military personnel
and their families, who are outraged by all this. So, again, thanks,
Jeff.

This whole thing really has nothing to do about support for the
troops. This is about democrat grandstanding to provide cover for the
General Betray Us ad, minimizing Rush’s influence by slandering him,
and providing the framework for reinstating the Fairness Doctrine. Many Senate democrats have called on the owner of Clear Channel, Rush’s broadcaster, to publicly condemn Rush. In a related story, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors have condemned Michael Savage for “hate speech.”

There is a concerted effort afoot to silence or at least mitigate
all speech that the left does not agree with. This is just the latest
barrage and as the democrats gain more power and the leftists within
the democrat power structure gains more influence they will push more
and more for legislation like the Fairness Doctrine with the aim being
conservative silence. All I’ve got to say is good luck because this
type of thought campaign has always ended badly in American history. BigT
