Norway's Thorkildsen has qualified!  (As expected!)  Latvia First  - Vasilevskis - 83.51,  Russia - Korotkov - Second - 83.33m and Pitkämäki Third - 82.61.  Thorkildsen managed 79.85m.  Poor weather ruined throwing conditions: the Olympic winner will be expected to throw circa 88-89metres on Saturday in the Finals.  There are twelve finalists including Thorkildsen and three Finns.

Vadims Vasilevskis fra Latvia won the round with 83.51m.

Russia's Ilya Korotkov came second with 83.33m while Tero Pitkamaki of Finland followed at 82.61m.

Poor weather made the conditions difficult for the throwers.

Thorkildsen said he held back on the slippery ground, and that he was satisfied with what he termed his "halfway throw".

A total of 12 athletes will compete in the Men's Javelin Throw final to be held on Saturday.

Thanks, Milieunet, I can't either!  I might join the Anglo Finns in London ,all meeting to watch it together at a special venue!  It is all terribly exciting!
