72 Hour Blackout Caused by Cat-Mouse Chase
Cat-mouse chased turns into major blackout. Who knew that animals can cause such chaos. Last time a blackout was caused by an iguana in Florida.
TIRANA (Reuters) - A cat chasing a mouse in Tirana's main power station caused a 72-hour blackout across parts of the Albanian capital, the electricity company said on Friday.
"A cat and a mouse ran into the high-voltage cables," a company spokeswoman said, showing pictures of the electrocuted animals. "We took pictures because we've never had anything like this."
Albanians complain bitterly about the power cuts that have plagued them for decades, and are mostly blamed on drought and the dilapidation of the communist-era grid. Most homes and shops in Tirana rely on petrol generators.

Don't underestimate the mouse. He led the cat into the wires attempting to escape when the lights went out.

This is my cat Sasha who is a house cat and on the odd occation gets to play out doors, today she caught this mouse and I observed her playing with it. I ran for my camera and these are a couple of the shots I took. The mouse is ok by the way I took her indoors before she could do any real damage. Luck little mouse

Although it looks hopeless, this mouse got away and lived to tell the tale of his capture.

This cat loves to help at the computer... preferably controlling the mouse action! Seconds after this shot she batted it on to the floor!

Carnival in Nice is an annual celebration since 1876. Various animals are described as holy to the inhabitants of Nice such like the bat (ratapignata), the cat, the mouse, the babaou - sort of dragon, fire-eater and many more magic and devilish and grotesque beings. All previous mentioned are each year a part of the spectacle. Certainly a fun to check out - in case you visit this mediterranean region in February!

Nora says, "Mousies is good! I love to chase them--real or toys. Love the mousies!"
Nora has never caused a blackout, but mice often chew the wires in cars so who do you think is to blame?

Minuit prefers to watch mice from afar. He's more than willing to allow other cats to play at cat and mouse games. He now cites the Tirana power station incident as a prime example of the perilous dangers of chasing small critters.
Poor cat and little mousy.
Minuit will continue to rely on his human servants for food and entertainment.

You don't see it in this photo, but there's a cat after the bird, and a bird after a mouse. this whole part of the city (New York City, along the river) has sculptures of funny little events.
