Yes it's them condoms in the South Pole again. My brother is down there right now sitting in the 24 hour darkness making a ton of money, he said he will talk to me again to-morrow! Tomorrow is not until the end of winter, I telt him.

McMurdo Station in the summer has about 1,000 people assigned to it.  Of these, last year 38 per cent were female, occupying all sorts of job descriptions, up to and including diesel mechanics (the Diesel Dykes).

Every Friday afternoon in Building 155 (which is the main building, with some public amenities, such as male and female toilets, there is a large stainles steel bin (6 in. in diameter, and about 10 in. tall) this is filed with fresh condoms from the States.  Saturday night is the big night, apparently, because Sunday is the off day.  The bin is empty by then.  The condoms are dispensed by a nurse from the local base clinic.  She is called informally the Condom Fairy.

Thousands are dispensed.  Since one can only use so many on the Ice, where do they go?  He reckons that a vast amount of condoms (the large American size) are taken by workers, who, when they are repaitraited to the States extend their journey to include S.E. Asian countries, such as Thailand.  Enough said.  We all know that Asian size condoms are too small for us really manly studs, so they go prepared.
 
Some of the male workers grab a fistful every time they can, just to stock up.
