Cricket communications giving away $10,000 in free gas
Hello,
This is Austin here in Las Vegas, Nevada. Today Cricket communications gave away $10,000 in free gas. 20 gallons per car starting at 5o'clock at the Green Valley Grocery on Flamingo and Jones.
Don't worry about it because they already given it all away. Even though the line was supposed to start or begin forming at 4pm with the actual pumping set for 5pm, the whole thing drew so much attention, everything began around 3:30pm because of traffic (massive traffic) jams.
It only took them about ten minutes to pump all 10K dollars worth of gas. What was left was tons of traffic backed up to a dead stop in all directions for almost 2 miles in every direction. Imagine hundreds and hundreds of cars in gridlock listening to Cricket commercials while buried in traffic created by the wireless communications giant.
Even funnier was the Cricket mobile billboards sitting amongst the sea stopped cars, all of them with empty gas tanks. Something tells me they planned it that way.

Cheaper than an ad buy, and the news stations will cover the publicity. Cricket got the best deal of anyone involved!

nukemdomis, I like this story. It's good stuff. Now Al Gore will say that Cricket has a large carbon foot print due to all the cars in idol to get free gas. Good for a company to do these things. Hnt Hint Columbia SC LOL

Yeah Cricket made a wise choice executing the whole program the way they did.
What's interesting to me is the fact that I had just signed up for Nowpublic before running out the door with my cellphone in hand. Sitting in the line for 45 minutes gave me plenty of time to create this story using the awesome Voice Reports feature here at this site.
The local cops put up the orange cones ending the promotion when there were only about 10 or 12 cars in front of me. I can say that since I was so far towards the front of the mob, my exit was super easy. Can't say the same for the thousands of cars that I passed that were still in line.
There's a link to the video of the chaos of the gas giveaway if anyone is interested.
