by googleguru | April 12, 2008 at 09:20 am | 190 views | 2 comments

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Corner Brook are advising people to watch out for fradulent bank cheques. The scam starts with an advertisement in the classifieds looking for people to take part in a survey. Within a few days, the person will receive a cheque in the mail for $2400-$2900. The recipient is instructed to cash the cheque and return the remainder to Toronto or Montreal.

The cheques are of no monetary value and police caution that some financial institutions have been holding their clients responsible for repayment of the money.
