Spare a thought for other countries were gas IS expensive. In Australia premium is US$5.63 gallon equivalent. (A$1.60 litre - compare to US gas at A$0.94 litre equiv. What's the price in your country (1 us gallon = 3.785 litres)
What do people do when gas hits 35 cents per gallon? Why fill up every vehicle they own of course.
This was the situation in New Hanover County when a typographical error in adjusting the price of gas at the pump saw premium gas selling for $3.00 gallon less than it should have.
Attendants at the gas station were upset that no-one told them that the price was wrong, but you would think that after 10 hours of selling tank-fulls of gas at around $9 a time they would have guessed that something was not right.

Damn, but a story like this does my heart good!

Up here in BC, I use the super-uneaded stuff, which is around C$1.20/litre. (I also only have to refuel once every three weeks, as the bike gets some insane mileage) Not everyone in the US is driving Hummers and Escalades, but inefficient vehicles are more prevalent there than anywhere else I've ever been- fuel is less expensive in the States, but people generally need much more of it; the higher prices, though, are starting to affect luxury-vehicle sales, which is perhaps a silver lining.

Don't worry it will get more expensive,
Official china statement: 2030, 60 % INCREASE in petrol consumption for china,
means to cylinders less for the us roads, if no change to replace petrol cars

I wish gas was 35 cents a gallon! Hey, maybe my local gas station could make that mistake too. ;)
For self-serve normal gas here it's $1.22/litre.

matte, I like this story. It's good stuff. Thank god we don't live in Britian where I hear gas is near $9.00 a gallon, in Canada West Coast it is around $1.30 a litre, getting damn close to Australias. I wanted to pull my hair out, but forgot raising three kids already did that to me.
Update: Here is some Breaking News, for those who wish to cover it. Saskatchewan has discovered Oil, as well as New Brunswick, the Dakotas as well. Many are saying that Saskatchewan may become the New Persia of the Prairies. Certainly some Good News for a Change, and hopefull less dependence on foriegn oil and hostage increases from the Middle East.
