Norman Siegal marches in assembly protest

NEW YORK CITY, April 19 - Three people were arested in today's freedom of assembly march. The protest was an attempt to combat the new law which restricted 50 or more people or bikes from assembling on a public street without a permit. It addition to that it also restricts twenty or more people from gathering in a public park unpermited. The nyc bar association, am nyc queer contingent, and the ny civil liberties union who were also participants in the march argue the new law destroys one's first amendment rights.

The march begain in city hall park and ended in battery park city. Three people were arrested near the world trade center site. The charges for the three activists at this time are unclear.

What did the law used to be? There must have been a number previously at which point you needed a permit. These numbers are obviously ridiculous.

The best way I could explain it is one action led to another. The RNC led to one thing which led to this and so on. There are also some video and print articles available on the nytimes website. If you ask me it doesnt make any sense. The activists are fighting for free speech and clean air. What's wrong with that?
