Sayonara Krosa - A Final Farewell

Day 7 – It has been almost a week since that Wednesday afternoon barbecue when I first noticed clouds streaming through the horizon at a slow sprinter’s pace.  Although at a distance, for the past seven days, this tropical storm system named Krosa has played havoc by creating a seesaw affect on the local weather.  Each of the days started in a silent questioning of where the cyclone would strike next and at what strength, as the storm quickly acquired great power. Local residents had daily tasks of laundry, special events, and even simple strolls down local city sidewalks interrupted by the sudden unpredictable gusty downpours associated with the system.  Yet, given the sheets of torrential rain and mudslides in Taiwan, mass evacuations in China, and untold horror stories created in other parts of this region by Krosa, most residents on the main Ryukyu Island of Okinawa feel fortunate to have suffered only minor inconveniences as a result of  the massive and powerful system.  Today, after days of destruction, Krosa is forecast to dissipate in the East China Sea.

Here is some footage of the local weather at sunrise on this the final day of Tropical Depression-Storm-Typhoon-Super Typhoon Krosa.
