Bush: 'I quit golf over Iraq war.'
I am rendered speechless by this latest revelation in an interview with the "leader of the free world".
US President George W. Bush said in an interview out Tuesday that he quit playing golf in 2003 out of respect for the families of US soldiers killed in the conflict in Iraq, now in its sixth year."I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal," he said in an interview for Internet hub Yahoo! and Politico magazine.
"I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander-in-chief playing golf," he said. "I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them."
The US president traced his decision to the August 19, 2003 bombing of UN headquarters in Baghdad, which killed the world body's top official in Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello.
"I remember when de Mello, who was at the UN, got killed in Baghdad as a result of these murderers taking this good man's life. And I was playing golf -- I think I was in central Texas -- and they pulled me off the golf course and I said, it's just not worth it anymore to do," said Bush.

moonwolf, I like this story. It's good stuff. Gee you would think he should have given up his Boozing, which would have been a more sane priority, not to mention refusing to take his ADD meds, what is reported a condition he has had to deal with since childhood.

moonwolf, I like this story. It's good stuff. I would just like to add that the story of his "quitting golf for the troops" is negated by the fact that he was seen playing golf 2 months after the incident he cited.
I added a couple videos of Keith Olbermann discussing it. The beginning of part 2 is where Olbermann demonstrates this fact.

Thanks for those videos James. Olbermann is so right on! That such a cretin as Bush could ever achieve the Presidency. Time to revamp the electoral system to prevent such a disaster from ever happening again.

Thanks all. If I was an American all I would be able to muster when someone mentioned Bush is shame and embarrassment.
