China cancels US military and diplomatic contact

It is very unfortunate developement in geo- political scenario . world is already facing financial crisis and in this situation any kind of mistake can led to total collapse.China have cancelled its military and diplomatic exchanges on the issue of $6.5 bn US- Taiwan arms deal. In  his last hours Bush has opened another pandora's box.

Pentagon spokesman Maj Stewart Upton said: "China's continued politicisation of our military relationship results in missed opportunities."

The Chinese move affects a visit by a senior Chinese general, navy port calls and meetings on the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

China will also not participate in an exchange on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.

"It's an unfortunate step," said US state department deputy spokesman Robert Wood.

On Saturday the Chinese foreign ministry said: "The Chinese government and the Chinese people strongly oppose and object to the US government's actions, which harm Chinese interests and Sino-US relations."

The US is Taiwan's largest arms supplier.

The US said the deal would not alter the military balance in the region but was "a demonstration of the commitment of this administration to provide Taiwan the defensive arms its needs to be strong".

Sounds like an excuse to continue their bad behavior and punish their own people with more human rights violations. And a good way to freak everybody out. Fear Factor.

That is not an an excuse to gift weapons to Taiwani goverment, so they start a fighting. why US suppose itself  as a sole upholder of human rights? There is a body called UN , where China can be surrounded on this issue of Taiwan.

Let the pieces fall where they may.  Who can argue with one-party rule?  The only pandora's box opened was China's attempt to become the world's leading economic power.  As was said by a former prime minister... "when opening the window, some flies will get into the house."  It appears their house is full of flies and you can't swat em' with chopsticks, but they can continue to try.

Amitjha, I like this story. It's good stuff.  If I lived on Taiwan I would want the most up to date defense equipment.  It hasn't been that long since the Mainland was shelling the Island.  Could this be a ploy to distract the Chinese citizens from the government's complicity in poisoning thousands of children?  The Chinese government hardly has clean hands when it comes to selling arms and ammunition abroad.  Many of those weapons have found their way to N. America and are in the hands of gangs.
