Earth Quakes in Japan! One just hit us again! Two Casualtys.
Every Time an Earth Quake hits Japan, Regardless of the out come or the intensity of the disaster, Japanese do remain extremely calm and disciplined. In this one many have lost there homes and belongings, living for now in Shelters and being crowded with little comfort if any. Yet all even the Children do remain calm and serene, still smiling in most cases and having a positive outlook for the future! Handling disasters Japanese stile is rather remarkable and reassuring at the same time!
New and old questions do come up though, such as what should be done with those old buildings around Japan that are not yet updated to the Modern Earth Quake Standards and who should pay and how!
Japan's Desaster response team is doing an outstanding Job as Japanese have come to expect from them and with out those rather well trained and well equiped Teams the outcome of this Earth Quake would have been a lot worth! Prevention does seem to pay of.
UPDATE 11:41am Saturday June 14: The powerful 7.0 earthquake left 6 dead, 144 hurt and 8 missing in Japan.
The quake, which hit at 8:43 a.m. (7:43 p.m. ET Friday), was centered 100 kilometers (60 miles) north of Sendai, Japan, in southern Iwate Prefecture, the Japanese Meteorological Agency said. Several strong aftershocks followed, it said.
Six people were killed and at least 144 hurt Saturday morning when a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck northeastern Japan, Japanese officials said. Another eight people were missing, fire officials said.
Several landslides covered roads, some highways buckled, a few bridges collapsed and bullet trains stopped, but two nuclear power plants in the region were not affected, officials said.
Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura said one man was killed when he was buried in a landslide in Fukushima Prefecture and the other was struck by a truck when he rushed out of his house in Iwate.
Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda sent priority orders for rescue operations, Machimura said.
Local governments, fire departments and police were working to gather damage reports.
The Iwate government office said it had received reports that eight children and a teacher were injured by breaking windows at a preschool and that the earthquake produced landslides in some areas.
The Miyagi fire department said there had been some injuries caused by falling furniture, and some bus passengers were injured when the vehicle bounced on a bridge. Two houses collapsed, the fire department said.
East Japan Railway suspended Shinkansen bullet trains in the Tohoku region, and many other train lines in the region suspended operation as well. Expressways in Miyagi were also closed.
Tokyo Electric Power Co. said that operations at nuclear power plants in Fukushima were not affected, Japan's national Kyodo News Agency said.
Well, Japan does know Earth Quakes that is for certain. One just hit a couple of minutes ago in Honshu with a force of 7 and could be felt even here in Soka Shi with a force of 3 on the richter scale.
Now Japan has an average of 3 Earth Quakes per Week and some of them rather strong, like today's Earth Quake! However in most cases it is business as usual, even the trains are still on time.
Japan has been building for Earth Quakes, Typhoons and Tsunamis for decades now and it does pay of.
Rare are the Earth Quakes that do cause great disaster or even Casualties, yet even here they do happen. Nevertheless Japan's prevention policy do seem to pay of even though they do cost a fortune to the Tax payer!

Earthquake?
Do you know anything about HAARP?
And those rainbow color clouds observed just before that quake in China...

Paschen, I like this story. It's good stuff.
I saw the China News Story on it. A whole section of road just toppled into a canyon. Wow! I still believe Geothermal Development would reduce earthquake activity in Japan.

Unfortunately this Earth Quake caused Two Casualties so far and many Home less. The Older Building and especially Private Houses did not hold up to this Quake, leaving many without a Home. The Government did respond rather fast and the disaster emergency team proved to be well trained and well equipped as well. New old questions are coming-up again though. Should Japan destroy the Old buildings and replace them even though there are privately owned. Who pays and how?

Thank you for your update and for providing some important questions that I hope the Japanese government will think about.

Try again Paschen, sometimes the network acts funny. If not write into the headquarters help center.
