NP Rank:
Hero Jane McGrath dies, but legacy lives on
Jane McGrath had given everything in the fight against the cancer she first discovered at the age of 31. Tributes flowed yesterday that speak of her incredible spirit in the face of three recurrences of the disease and her tireless efforts to raise awareness of breast cancer through her McGrath Foundation. She had spoken in the past of choosing to live "as a survivor who gave it (her) best shot".
AUSTRALIA'S cricket team will wear pink ribbons in their next game as a tribute to Jane McGrath, who lost her battle with breast cancer yesterday.
With husband and cricket great Glenn McGrath and their two young children, James and Holly, by her side, she died after suffering complications following surgery.
Friends said Ms McGrath knew the end was coming, and was determined to keep her final battle private.
Ms McGrath was first diagnosed with breast cancer 11 years ago. The British-born former flight steward also battled secondary cancers in her hip and brain.
