Ontario puts brakes on drug tests for drivers
Opinion
Barry Artiste. Now Public Contributor (New NP Highlighter not working)
Ontario apparently is Kowtowing to special interests, and ignoring Federal Law Bill C-2 when impaired drivers only means if you are drunk and not High! Impaired in my opinion means impaired.
Certainly if one is caught driving without their prescription eyeglasses is fined, but if you are caught high on crack, it is "Well have a nice day, move along!"
And I thought it was only Lefty British Columbia which historically ignores most Federal Laws, hopefully this is not a trend among Provinces, because, why have Federal Laws or even a Federal Government at all, if Province choose to ignore them? If a Province can ignore the Federal government Laws without penalty, why can't we as ordinary citizens demand not to pay Federal Income Tax? Especially since we are not getting the complete benefit from the Federal Government? Why can't we demand to not pay Provincial Taxes if we choose to ignore our Provincial Government?
Hell , how about we just demand not to pay taxes period, because let's face it, if the province can ignore federal laws, why can't we as taxpaying citizens ignore both of them? After all , we were always told, you cannot pick and choose what laws to obey or not obey, apparently I was wrong!

Province puts brakes on drug tests for drivers
By THE CANADIAN PRESS
TORONTO -- Ontario won't immediately be testing blood, urine or saliva samples taken from motorists suspected of driving while high, which critics warn is stripping police of important new powers that would help them stop impaired drivers.
The government-run centre responsible for the testing isn't accepting any samples under new federal rules -- which came into effect Wednesday -- because the province is worried it will overburden the system.
The new rules -- passed in February as part of the Conservatives' crime omnibus legislation Bill C-2 -- impose tougher penalties for all impaired drivers and make it a criminal offence to refuse a roadside sobriety test. Police can also compel suspected drug-impaired drivers to give a blood, urine or saliva sample for analysis, which drivers could previously refuse.

Once the Federal Government's new draconian "law" slams into the Supreme Court it won't be worth the paper those Conservative bozos wrote it on.
If they think a law that can force me to give a blood sample based on some cop's suspicion that I might be high will stand up to the Charter of Rights they are nuts.
I can't believe we pay these idiots to waste taxpayers time and money passing laws that are bound for the wastebasket!

Thanks to you both for the visit and the comments, certainly though I doubt the police will randomly stop everyone for nothing, the paper work is painful and they have better things to do, normally they stop you if you drive like a maniac and they would put you through a series of visual tests first, such as question why you are driving with an open Bucket of Chicken on your lap! Secondly, why you refuse to share a piece of chicken with the officer?

No problem Barry. After a second glance at that joint I noticed that it looks to be sporting a filter, bad decision.
