Opinion: Can the Greens Afford to be Green?
People say follow the money. Well nowadays if you want to follow the money look for Al Gore, cause that’s where it’s going. Al Gore started the panic that in 10 years we were going to burn like the Fried Chicken banned from the Democrat Convention. He has invested heavy in Green ventures which has made him over 100 million dollars. Soon his doomsday prophesy propaganda horror film posing as a documentary will start making it’s way to Congress and your pockets. Unlike Gore though your bank account won’t get bigger. The moment the Democrat controlled Congress starts passing laws meant to “save the Planet.’” Many will be forced to pay taxes and buy products sold to you by guess who? Al Gore. Only in America
Miami Herald: One of the greenest cars in the world was in downtown Miami this week. It’s a spiffy little Ford Focus with a weird fuel tank. Cost: $1.2 million. Not too far away from this car was a man promoting the world’s greenest light bulb: It uses one-fourth the power of a regular bulb, has no mercury contaminants and lasts for years. Price: $55-$65. The business rush to green is on, as was shown by the scores of entrepreneurs at Gov. Charlie Crist’s second summit on climate change this week at the Hotel InterContinental. There’s an unanswered question: At what cost?
The mantra among green businesses is that prices will come down — a lotOne speaker at the summit, Ki Nam, a Californian developing green cars, pointed out that the first cellphone 20 years ago cost $2,000. ”Now, they’re free.” (If you sign a contract with a wireless provider, that is.)
Ray Lane, a famed Silicon Valley venture capitalist who invested in a solar power company, told The Wall Street Journal that the movement to green technology is ”bigger than the Internet” — perhaps twice as big.
And the crash unlike the Internets will effect everyone….mpresss
