Poll: Obama Big Ohio, Tight in NC
A new Public Policy Polling Survey shows Barack Obama with an 11-point lead in the crucial state of Ohio, 50-39 percent. The main reason: A strong “unity bounce” that has brought former Hillary Clinton supporters strongly behind the Democratic candidate. Obama leads equally with both men and women, is about tied with white voters and enjoys a 50+ percentage point lead among African-Americans. In March, McCain led Obama in this poll 49-41.
The Ohio numbers are interesting, because of those type numbers do indeed stick, McCain is in a world of trouble. Tomorrow we will get to see a comparison poll when Quinnipac releases an OH, PA, and FLA battleground poll.
Meanwhile, a new poll released in North Carolina confirms what we have been saying all along, North Carolina joins Virginia as a huge Battleground this fall. Obama trails McCain in NC by just 4, 44-41. In addition, although 2010 is a few year away, OH Senator George Voinovich has reason to be concerned. He leads in a hypothetical match-up with Betty Sutton 37-32 and is tied with Tim Ryan 33-33.
