Three years later,Virginia Beach family still seeking answers in daughter's death

In Kings Grant in Virginia Beach, neighborhoods connect at the traffic circle off Newcastle Road. Bill and Charlotte Carson can't stay away from it. It's there where their only daughter lost her life.

Bill Carson said, "She was apparently on her bike, was accosted, and beaten unmercifully to death.  It's hard for Charlotte and me or anyone else in the neighborhood to understand how something like this could happen."

August 14, 2005 It's a date etched on a plaque near where she died and in the Carsons' memory. Bill Carson said, "I am convinced somebody knows." Police are too But no arrests have been made yet. Three years later, police say it's a case where new tips are still coming in.

MPO Jimmy Barnes with Virginia Beach Police said, "There's nothing more we want to do than to solve this case and give that family closure. We're working on this case daily, tips are still coming in. They're followed up, and people are interviewed and reinterviewed."

Shellie's parents hope that money may be a motivator for somebody who knows something in this case.  A reward, gathered from people in the neighborhood, family and friends is up to $40,000.

Bill Carson said, "It seems like every minute of the day, something reminds you of your daughter and the fact that somebody has taken her life away in a senseless, uncaring, violent way."

Charlotte Carson said, "Not a day goes by where I don't cry for my daughter." Charlotte Carson is not only dealing with an emotional toll, but a physical one too as she battles breast cancer.

She will not give up either fight.
