The international community of nations have left it too late to ensure a fair election and

Tsvangirai had no choice but to pull out of next weeks elections. Perhaps now real pressure will be put on Mugabe to stop the violence and step down.

Zimbabwe's opposition leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, has pulled out of the presidential run-off against Robert Mugabe saying he will no longer participate in "this violent, illegitimate sham of an election process".

Tsvangirai, head of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), announced his decision at a news conference in Zimbabwe's capital as ruling party militants blockaded the site of an opposition rally.

Citing political violence, he said a free and fair poll on Friday would be impossible and called on the United Nations and the African Union to intervene to stop "genocide" in the former British colony.

LotusFlower, I like this story. It's good stuff. I am not surprised that Tsvangerai withdrew from an election that would be a sham. The International Community has to do something about Mugabe and ZANU-PF.

It's unbelievable that he can just 'get away' with this! He's worse than Idi Amin ever was - and just 20 years ago, we all thought he was going to be the savior of the 'new' Africa!

How did he turn so completely evil? I blame his new wife! His first wife had a social conscience, but his second only wants to enrich herself!

LotusFlower, I knew this was coming but I nearly fell over when I read it. Mugabe has even more free reign now than he once had. Zimbabwe is heading for even darker times.
