update SEP-1

EU suspends talks with Russia   SEPT-1 (PDF file)
Gordon Brown asked the EU European Union to freeze  negotiations with Russia for a new contract EU/Russia. The talks should start Sept-15 including energy security. The EU decided to negotiate the partnership agreement with Russia only after Withdrawal of the Russian troops from Georgian heartland.
France's president, Nicolas Sarkozy, the EU's current president has convened the first EU emergency summit since February 2003, for Sept 1st. France now worried that tough actions undermine Europe's Peacemaker position, G8 membership of Russia could be frozen. The british position is more radical, admits the energy dependance of Europe from Russia. It depends on Russia for a third of its oil and 40% of its gas. Brown said this addiction had to be broken. "Without urgent action we risk sleepwalking into an energy dependence" source in part: Guardian

Georgia Russia says withdrawal complete BBC-VIDEO

Russia says it has fulfilled a pledge to withdraw its combat troops from Georgia in line with a ceasefire deal. But Moscow says it intends to maintain a peacekeeping presence of 2,500 troops in "buffer zones" around the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The World Bank announced meanwhile sending a team of experts to Georgia, investigating the economic impact of the conflict with Russia. In Talks with the Georgian government worldbank ready to prevent poverty and to promote the prosperity.Russia ready to pledge $22 million for reconstruction.

The French ambassador Jean-Pierre Lacroix, most council members wanted a united resolution. According to French diplomat, the present UN draft will be replaced by the Russian proposal  with additonal reference to the territorial integrity of Georgia. (The U.S.  could not support Moscow's original draft) Bush calls on Russia to end the "blockade".The resolution"II",  could be followod by a peace monitor group UN-EU-OSCE.

"We said, 'do not make it'" (US NATO ambassador)
From the USA, new statements about the outbreak of fighting two weeks ago: According to its NATO ambassador the US warned Georgia several times before invasion of South Ossetia. The government in Washington warned Saakashvili even on the day before he  started the offensive, saying that there is no military solution in the conflict there, said the NATO representative of the United States, Kurt Volker. "We said, 'does not make it, don't get into a military conflict, that is not in your interest, ' "Volker said during a visit by the Norwegian Institute for International Affairs.  source: norvegian institute Int'l affairs

Update AUG-21
The norvegian defense ministry, Heidi Langvik-Hansen got a call from the russian defense ministry freezing relationships to NATO, no common actions, signed declaration will follow next days. This means cold war, thank you Condi Rice, zero-diplomacy. Russia will promote it's own proposal for UN resolution. US troops to retreat June-30-2009 from Irak. Troops will return home to US, no connection with Georgia war.

German resistance against cold war "Fire cracker wall Poland":
Giudo Westerwelle, head of german liberals called the the german government to launch the Initiative to stop the coldwar installation of US missiles at the german border of Poland. In case of nuclear accident Dresde, Berlin  both cities finished. He said this is not a private  "thing" between Poland and US, endangering german borders.  Explainer: Britannica Online Polish–German border devised by the Allied powers at the end of World War II;....................thereby endangering the possibilities of a long-lasting peace. ...Oder-Neisse Line

Update AUG-20

Minsk/Brest-Litovsk Belarus Moscow "Fire cracker wall"
Russian president Medvedev and Alexander Lukaschenko Belarus will sign in automn a missile defence system installed at the polish boarder, probably Brest-Litovsk to complete the new "Fire cracker wall" in central Europe initiated by signature of Condi Rice with excellent knowledge, "how to blow up Central europe". The european Union must start to defend it's boarders, by downgrading vulnerable members like Poland, to trigger world war II situations with the "CIA bridge club". Europeans will live in peace after 54 million victims during world war II. So all others ( both sides)  put your Fire crackers in your home country, make war at home; here is no place. The "fire cracker wall" will be a permanent threat to all European capital cities, victims of double nervous US/RUSSIA pulling the trigger for their interests, no protection at all, chaos,,,,,

Troops, UN, Elysee peace plan
Russian president Medvedev informed EU-French president Sarkozy by phone, that russian troops will retreat untill friday. A contingent of 500 soldiers will stay to secure the peace plan. Russia rejected the UN resolution as propaganda. Elysee told, Sarkozy and Medvedev agree peace plan must be executed.
NATO wild discussions, wrong signals:
Nato's decision yesterday to create a special consultative council for Georgia, and to suspend the one it has with Russia is a diplomatic trick. On the longterm the exclusion of the main player russia in it's home territory is nonsense. Security arrangments have to be decided collecticve in a region where millions of ethnic russians live. The old-fashioned power talk of Condi-Rice, the US being bounded to Irak, has the ability to spread the conflict, but NATO's ability to solve the conflict in the Caucasus is low. As german chancellor Angela Merkel told, NATO can not act out of itself in this conflict. French diplomacy focussing on flexible response has to pave the way for a balanced agreement for Europe-Russia "SUTHBEACH" area. US may be more engaged to restructure Pakistan nuclear power on the "EASTCOAST" of the area (southbeach, eastcoast are virtual terms used for popular politics explainer)

Thanks Paschen for Update Flag, I recommend everyone featuring war situations in europe to ask our parents, what did they suffer, all families. I agree with your viewpoint it's a shame all attention again to war. The urgent themes drinking water, climate change find no attention. However the planet may backfire sooner than we estimate. We will need all of us engaged for the home planet. If war is necessary to sign contracts for the military industry, why could Bush anyway leaving, not sign them now. We could save sufferings of millions of people with a signature. First people have to leave their homes for sub-prime scam, no military action so far to get them back, but a new war for offshore accounts of the miltary-industrial looby. We should give peace a chance, it is 60 years of peace in Europe showing peace works.

Many do not remember though and most cannot fathom it nor relate to it at all, why they so easily go right back into war! Maybe a lack of compassion, lack of imagination, lack of knowledge or maybe even a lack of intelligence! I am not sure!

Is not Russia trying to re-take the dissolved Soviet Union as part of Russia not imperialism?

What is the difference in Russia granting passports to ethnic Russians in South Ossetia, and moving in it's army, and Germany under Hitler doing the same thing in Austria and the Sudetenland prior to WWII?

SOLARLIFE

Thanks boomer47 (not verified) your comment "Is not Russia trying to re-take the dissolved Soviet Union as part of Russia not imperialism?" Yes and no. Your viewpoint is the general northamerican viewpoint, out of the past experience see article: http://www.nowpublic.com/world/history-40-years-warsaw-pact-invasion-prague-spring-democracy. The European view is updated to modern russia with functioning stock market to keep up (by no war) and central energy gas/oil dependance of Western Europe, as well as the experience of WWII, don't touch Poland as a action field for one party, it has to stay neutral buffer.

SOLARLIFE, let's see....throw Russia out of the G8, which already does not include China, India or any voice for developing countries.  Boy, that would show them!

Russia, China and India set up their little group, include the developing countries and guess how much muscle the G8 will have after that.

Base on Russia they had to Help Russians which lives in Georgia. Thing is that they are not Russians, they are Ossetians, never lived in Russia. what Russia government does is Following: they give there passports , money, weapons to different ethnic groups living in Georgia (and not only in Georgia, but areas where all this "frozen conflicts "  are) and  they are provoking ethnic conflicts  and  them they are claiming that they have to defend there  citizens and  occupying or holding under control those countries.

they is no excuse what Russians did in Georgia last 15 years. in Both regions the it took place Georgians ethnic cleansing in huge scales. and only fulls can believe that Georgia started war in ossetia. Days before august 7, lot of people Georgian civilians were killed or wounded by Russian "peace keepers", and they already has huge army there in north border of south ossetia when Georgia answer back.

it was Just media played big role to misinformed world what really happened here. I mean well paid Russian media which by "accidentally" end up there in Georgian land exact same night when war "starting" by Georgians.
