NP Rank:
Where did Sarah Palin go?
Where, oh where, did Sarah Palin go?

It was only a few days ago when Sarah Palin, the Republican Governor of Alaska and Vice Presidential hopeful, graced the stage of the RNC in St. Paul to deliver her acceptance speech in front of a large group of GOP supporters. Since then, tons of blogs, political opinions, and speculations have poured into the internet and news stations all over the U.S. Media groups have stumbled over themselves trying to get tidbits of informtaion on this relatively unknown candidate. Dozens of reporters flocked to Alaska to see what they could find.
Still, there were many questions left unanswered about this candidate. Everyone wants to know. Who is she? Where did she come from? Where does she stand on issues? A plethura of hot topics have popped up all over the place since McCain first announced his choice as VP running mate, most of them centered around this former mayor. But, it seems now that she has disappeared, and the media is desperate to find her.
Typically, when a VP is nominated, they are swamped with interviews, press releases, and various other political obligations that require them to speak to the press. on their campaign platforms, their experiences, and on those of their political rivals.
It is merely the beginning of what they can expect in the coming months ahead until the election. Their lives will be disected and everything will be made public, both the good and the bad, for all to see. Democratic VP hopeful Joe Biden has certainly had his fairshare of post DNC interviews.
But what are we to make of this sudden disappearing act from Palin only 2 days after she gave her acceptance speech? Is the media and public purposely being kept from vetting Palin in an attempt for her to avoid answering the same types of tough questions that all of the other candidates who entered the political arena this year went through? Are we not allowed to put her through the same scrutiny that Obama, McCain, and Biden have gone through?
She has given two very intense speeches this last week, and to her credit she stood firm, delivering what was asked of her by her party's campaign advisors. Everything was carefully and deliberately orchestrated to ensure that the RNC went off without a hitch. But when it comes to political arenas, she has not come into contact with seasoned journalists who may question her on some of the statements that she has made, or probe her on issues that have surfaced concerning her past.
Veteran reporters are chomping at the bit to get a crack at Palin, to capure those highly sought after interviews. So it begs the question...do the Republican's think that no one will notice the apparent absense of the new conservative "celebrity" right now? Do they feel that the constituants and the public at large are not entitled to properly assess Palin, the woman who could be potentially be the first female Vice President ever? Is anyone else besides me concerned ?
